  • Homelab Status Update

Well, it has been a busy time for the homelab! Here’s a list of recent additions.

    • 45U rack
    • Dual 36 bay SuperMicro chassis
    • 24 bay SuperMicro chassis
    • New ASUS motherboard for main node
    • Mellanox 40Gbe network cards
    • Mellanox fiber QSFP+ connections
    • 31x2TB drives
    • 21x3TB drives

So far 2 of these devices will be an updated chassis for my main Proxmox node and an updated chassis and hardware for my secondary node. I also run a Dell Wyse in the cluster, but that hasn’t changed. My secondary node will be a full rebuild and only my TrueNAS pools should be migrated from the previous node.

I’ll be sharing updates on more changes once the hardware swaps or completed, so stay tuned!

  • Hello world!

Welcome to my first blog post! Here I’ll be chronicling my adventures in tech. From updates to my portfolio site, to documentation on fun and interesting projects that come along, to the growth of my homelab and other hobbies 🥰

    Proxmox

As an Arch Linux enjoyer and a Thinkpad user I’m sure some of my choices in software and hardware will seem obvious and even sometimes stereotypical. But I enjoy learning and trying new things with technology and learning what other people are doing. As of this writing my entire lab is virtualized using Proxmox, with my Thinkpad being the only bare metal device I use. I not only went with Proxmox to try out containers and virtual machines, I got into it to be able to keep better backups with Proxmox Backup Server and to be able to try out different Linux distrobutions on the fly. I’ve had fun using my old gaming desktop to play games with GPU passthrough while also running experiments with containers and Docker services at the same time. I’ll hopefully be updating things after Christmas so stay tuned for a full write up on that 😀
